The Association of Iraqi Academics
The Association of Iraqi Academics was founded in the UK on the 3rd of July 1994 at the office of the student union, in University of London, upon an initiative of a group of Iraqi academics living in Britain.
Since its foundation, the Association sought to identify the qualification and conditions of Iraqi academics and experts in various fields in preparation for utilising the identified information in present and future studies.
As Iraq is passing through turbulent political and economic conditions the mission of the Association has become more important especially after the dispersion of many university professors and professionals across Britain and around the world.
The Association hopes to extend bridges with educational institutes and institutions of civil society and other relevant bodies, as far as possible, for the benefit of Iraqi academics abroad and home alike.
General aims of the Association:
- Support and protect the interests of Iraqi academics in the UK.
- Strengthen relationships with universities and research institutions, civil society organisations and other professional and scientific societies active in the sector of higher education in the UK.
- Maintain strong links with Iraqi universities and the Ministry of Higher Education in Iraq.
- Hold scientific, cultural and social activates to strengthen ties between Iraqi academics communities living in the United Kingdom and reach out internationally.
- Publication of research papers, articles, newsletters and magazine of the Association’s members and other relevant bodies.
